Food Poisoning is very common and occurs when one eats or drinks water that is contaminated. Signs include an upset stomach, diarrhea and vomiting. In severe cases bloody stool, dizziness and blurred vision may be experienced.

Home Remedies For Food Poisoning

1. Herbal Tea

One of the most effective home remedies for treating food poisoning is taking herbal teas such as peppermint tea. Drinking a few cups of peppermint tea a day can help to relieve stomach pain and cramps which come with food poisoning.

2. Lemon

Lemon contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that provide relief as it helps kill harmful bacteria that cause poisoning. Add one teaspoon of lemon juice with a pinch of sugar to a glass of lukewarm water and take it two to three times a day. This will help in cleansing the system and also in fighting food poisoning.

3. Garlic

Garlic contains anti fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties that provide relief from food poisoning effects such as abdominal pain and diarrhea as it helps destroys all the unhealthy microbes present in the intestine. Crush one fresh garlic clove and swallow with a cup of lukewarm water once a day. Garlic can also be consumed in form of juice.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar helps to sooth the gastro-intestinal lining of the stomach and kills bacteria therefore helps to relieve the stomach pain.
Add one or two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water and drink it before eating any meal.

5. Re-Hydration Mix

A re-hydration Mix containing boiled water, a teaspoon of salt, teaspoon of sugar and a tablespoon of lime/lemon should be taken at least twice a day.
