Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, popularly known as Beyoncé, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, actress, filmmaker and dancer. She made her directorial and screenwriting debut with the musical film and visual album Black Is King, still the same year, which received widespread critical acclaim after premiering on Disney+.
She is among the world’s best-selling music artists, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Beyoncé’s success during the 2000s was recognized with the Recording Industry Association of America’s Top Certified Artist of the Decade, and Billboard magazine’s Top Radio Songs Artist as well as the Top Female Artist of the Decade. Her father is African American while her mother is of Louisiana Creole descent – French, Native American, and African and distant Jewish, Spanish, Chinese as well as Indonesian ancestry. She is a descendant of Acadian leader Joseph Broussard, through her mother, as well as a distant relative of Jean-Vincent d’Abbadie de Saint-Castin.
