Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, popularly known as Beyoncé, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, actress, filmmaker and dancer. Giselle Knowles-Carter performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. Giselle Knowles-Carter rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of Destiny’s Child, among the best-selling girl groups of all time.

Solange and her are the first sisters to have both had No. 1 albums. Her father is African American while her mother is of Louisiana Creole descent – French, Native American, and African and distant Jewish, Spanish, Chinese as well as Indonesian ancestry. She is a descendant of Acadian leader Joseph Broussard, through her mother, as well as a distant relative of Jean-Vincent d’Abbadie de Saint-Castin.
