Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, popularly known as Adele, is an English singer as well as songwriter. Laurie Adkins signed a recording contract with XL Recordings, after graduating from the BRIT School in 2006. She co-wrote the song with her producer, Greg Kurstin and the song is a piano ballad with soul influences, and lyrics that discuss themes of nostalgia as well as regret. It was acclaimed by music critics, upon release, who compared it favourably to her previous works and praised its lyrics, production and her vocal performance. The song was recorded in London’s Metropolis Studios.
