Robert John Downey Jr., popularly known as Robert Downey Jr, is an American singer, actor and producer. Downey’s career has been characterized by critical as well as popular success in his youth, followed by a period of drug abuse and legal troubles, before a resurgence of commercial success. Robert was named by Time magazine one of the 100 most influential people in the world, in 2008, and he was listed by Forbes as Hollywood’s highest-paid actor from 2013 to 2015. Downey’s films have grossed more than $14.4 billion worldwide, making him the second highest-grossing box-office star of all time.
Downey Jr made his acting debut in Robert Downey Sr.’s film Pound in 1970, when he was five years old. Downey subsequently worked with the Brat Pack in the teen films Weird Science (1985) and Less Than Zero (1987). He portrayed the title character in the biopic Chaplin, in 1992, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor and won a BAFTA Award. Downey joined the TV series Ally McBeal, following a stint at the Corcoran Substance Abuse Treatment Facility on drug charges, for which he won a Golden Globe Award; however in the wake of two drug charges, one in late 2000 and one in early 2001, Downey Jr was fired and his character terminated. Junior stayed in a court-ordered drug treatment program shortly after and has also maintained his sobriety since 2003.
Bond completion companies would not insure him, initially, until Mel Gibson paid the insurance bond for the 2003 film The Singing Detective. Subsequently, Downey Jr went on to star in the black comedy Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), the thriller Zodiac (2007), and the action comedy Tropic Thunder (2008), for the latter Junior was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Downey Jr gained global recognition for starring as Tony Stark / Iron Man in 10 films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with Iron Man (2008). Downey has also played the title character in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes (2009), which earned him his second Golden Globe and its sequel (2011).

Downey Jr is the son to Robert Downey Sr., who is an actor and filmmaker, and Elsie Ann, who was an actress who appeared in Robert Downey Sr.’s films. His father is of half Lithuanian Jewish, one-quarter Hungarian Jewish and one-quarter Irish descent and his mother had Scottish, German, and Swiss ancestry. His original family name was Elias which was changed by his father to enlist in the Army. Downey Jr and his older sister Allyson grew up in Greenwich Village and as a child, he was surrounded by drugs. Downey Jr’s father, a drug addict, allowed him to use marijuana when he was 6 years, an incident which his father later said he regretted.

Sherlock Holmes is a period drama that has mystery, action and drama in it and based on the character of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The first two part of the movie was crafted by Guy Ritchie and showrunners were Dan Lin, Lionel Wigram, Joel Silver as well as Susan Downey. The movie’s first part was released in 2009 and the second part was released on December 16th, 2011. The movie’s third part to be directed by Dexter Fletcher. After lingering for nearly decennium fans of the movie will get to see the Sherlock Holmes 3 on December 22nd, 2021. Fans are a little sad because of the lag in the film’s premiere and earlier on, the movie was assumed to come out in December 2020, but for some reasons it had to be postponed.

Susan Nicole Downey, popularly known as Susan Downey, is an American film producer. She was Co-President of Dark Castle Entertainment and Executive Vice President of Production at Silver Pictures, Joel Silver’s production company, until February 2009. She got married to Robert Downey Jr. The two formed their own production house named Team Downey.
