Dark Spots are also known as hyper-pigmentation, age spots or liver spots and are black or brown in color. They are mostly caused by sun exposure or by artificial UV light. Other causes could be as a result of acne or use of certain medications. They appear mostly on areas that receive most exposure to the sun such as the face, hands, shoulders and the back. Onions have an acid that contains skin lightening properties which help in clearing dark spots. To use onions to clear dark spots, squeeze the juice of a red onion and rub it on the affected areas using a cotton ball. Leave it for around 10 minutes then wash it off with warm water.
Fresh Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is a natural bleach and contains an exfoliating agent that helps in shedding off the top layer of the skin leaving a smooth light skin, free off dark spots. To use lemon to treat dark spots, rub the lemon juice on the affected areas for around 20 minutes then wash off with warm water. Repeat this twice daily until you see the desired results.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar is an excellent exfoliate that helps in shedding of the skin leaving a smooth dark spot free skin. To use it, dab a cotton ball with vinegar and apply it on the affected areas. Leave it for around 10 minutes then rinse it off. Repeat this remedy until you get your desired results.
Hydrogen peroxide is acidic in nature and is an excellent exfoliate, therefore it bleaches the dark spots and leaves the skin smooth and lighter. Dab a cotton ball with Hydrogen peroxide and rub on the affected areas. Leave it for a few minutes then wash it off and then moisturize as it can leave the skin dry.
Lactic acid is an excellent bleaching and exfoliating agent and therefore effective in treatment of dark spots. Buttermilk contains lactic acid and is therefore effective in fading the dark spots. Apply it on the affected areas daily until you see results.
Buttermilk And Honey
As discussed above, buttermilk is effective in fading dark spots. It can also be mixed with honey to make it more effective. Mix buttermilk with honey and apply it on the affected areas. Leave it for 10-15 minutes then wash it off.
Aloe Vera contains many health and beauty benefits among them lightening dark spots. Apply Aloe Vera gel on the affected areas daily until you get your desired results.
Vitamin E Oil
Vitamin E Oil contains antioxidant properties that help in eliminating dark spots on the skin. It also helps in fighting free radicals that could damage the skin. Apply and massage this oil on the affected areas every day until you get the desired results.
